The Men’s meeting was hesitant to let the visitors know the full extent of the congregation’s financial situation out of concern the visitors will not contribute. Curious a group demanding their government be transparent isn’t willing to demonstrate that quality themselves. Shouldn’t we give the visitors the information they need to permit them to evaluate who they believe has a greater need for their contribution?
Prior to responding to requests for benevolence assistance the congregation investigates to ensure the need is real and that the situation is not self inflicted. Shouldn’t the congregation perform the same due diligence when in comes to outside requests for financial assistance? How many others have been asked, how many have responded, total income and total expenses etc. Shouldn't the requestors be willing to permit contributors to evaluate who they believe has a greater need for their contribution?
