Priorities in Prayer

The next time you are "in church" listen to the public prayers. Make
note of the sequence of requests. This will help you understand the
priorities of the person praying. You just might notice that asking
for the forgiveness of sins is tantamount to saying "Good By" on the
telephone. It often is the last thing before the official exit "In
Jesus' Name." If one truly believes they have unforgiven sins wouldn't
it make sense to get those wiped away first thing instead of the last
thing? We do not really believe we have unforgiven sins but we ask out
of habit and tradition. Much of what we do in church is habit and
tradition and we do it without thinking.
