1 John 3:16-17
By this we know (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26), that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. [17] But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26) abide in him?
Beloved, let us (love in a social and moral sense - 25) one another, for (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26) is from God, and whoever (loves in a social and moral sense - 25) has been born of God and knows God. [8] Anyone who does not (love in a social and moral sense - 25) does not know God, because God is (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26). [9] In this the (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26) of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. [10] In this is (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26), not that we have (loved in a social and moral sense - 25) God but that he (loved in a social and moral sense - 25) us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [11] Beloved, if God so (loved in a social and moral sense - 25) us, we also ought to (love in a social and moral sense - 25) one another. [12] No one has ever seen God; if we (love in affection and benevolence, charity - 26) one another, God abides in us and his (love in a social and moral sense - 25) is perfected in us.
